24hrs of Power

Not long now 'til team AMB tackles the Scott 24hr! With a wide range of skill, ability and fitness we aren't expecting to to be a podium threat. In fact if either if our two man teams makes it onto the podium, Mick Ross has agreed to do a nude photo shoot for the next cover of the mag. Scary stuff. We've seen Mick in lycra, that's plenty enough for us.

In other news, the famous Interbike bonanza is underway in Las Vegas at the moment bringing us all kinds of tasty treats for the new season. The trends so far? More lightweight, 6 inch travel beasts. So, sticking with the trend, AMB will be running a group test on those very kind of bikes pretty soon - stay tuned.

Next issue will see our biggest shoe test ever - with 18 pairs of fantastic shoes reviewed you'll be well advised for kicks come 2009.

Merida 2009 Bikes

AMB heads to Brisbane for the launch of the new Merida 2009 bikes. They look unreal. We'll have a few sneak peaks in the next issue. Some super stiff and light carbon frames, and a cool new trail bike with a floating brake arm.

Shoe test on the way

AMB is getting geared up for another monster group test! Our Dec/Jan is going to have a massive wrap up of the latest and greatest shoes. So many shoes have been turning up at the AMB office that Mick has had to book a hotel room next door just to store them!

Working the mic

Chris loves the sound of his own voice. But seriously, do the Angry Doctor next year, it is soooo good.

Fishing with the Doctor

Can you believe it?! AMB sharing a beer with Gary Fisher! The man who pretty much invented mountain biking. He's a quirky character, not scared to speak his mind...so much so that we're not able to print a large section of what he said for fear of getting sued. Opinionated? Yesssiree.

The Angry Doctor 100km ended up being an amazing race. All our fears about the terrible weather were unfounded, and the course was pretty much bone dry. The trails around the small town of Mogo are some of the best we've ridden, so get down there - it's about a four hour drive from Sydney and maybe two from Canberra. Our crew of five AMB riders all looked flashy in their fancy new AMB jerseys! The orange and white certainly stands out, but there were no stand out performances on the day - just happy to make the distance!

Our design contributor Jordan Cole (pictured above) completed his first ever 100! Well done brother!

Look at the weather - perfect for a 100km race

It is absolutely pouring here in Sydney town and has been for two days now. Not what you'd call ideal conditions for a 100km race. The AMB team are off to Mogo to race the Angry Doctor, the fantastic 100km organised by the crew from AROC. Unless Mogo sits in some bizarre weather shadow (it doesn't) and hasn't received all this rain (it has) this is going to be a fairly tough experience. But as they say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Hopefully this race will make us very, very strong. We'll be out parading around in our new AMB jerseys too (thanks to Netti for getting them printed up so quickly!) and generally making a fool of ourselves. If you see us, please come say g'day.

World Cup weekend!

Yikes, what a weekend. 20,000 people undeterred by the crazy weather. Chris and Mick wandered around the event site, like mad fans with a purpose. Chatting to the internationals, gaining insight and behind the scenes scoop on how it is to be a pro. Massive travel horror stories and pressures on results, gave us a new respect of these racers, it's not easy! We're now back in the office, bored, and bummed it's all over. Although keeping us pumped are all the photos from the event, all our roaming photo guru's captured some pretty amazing action from the best riders on our very own track. To top it off, the following couple of days after the race were spent testing sweet new '09 bikes on the race course and Sparrow Hill, good times. How good will the WORLDS be!
